Culture In the humanities, ‘culture’ centers on expressive works, almost always from an ethnocentric point of view. The anthropological concept includes any “socially inherited element in the life of man, material and spiritual”,[1] and draws insight especially from “the trivial details of daily intercourse”.[2] Culture has been described by anthropologists as a frame of reference that people use to understand each other, [4] including language, values, and rules that set the limits for behavior and provide definitions of reality, held in common by people who share a distinctive way of life.[3] In recent decades the concept has been clouded by political ramifications of colonialism, expropriation, and indigenous revitalization adapted from what is considered authentic culture by ethographers.[5] Biomechanics PCT claims to deal with all forms of life, from bacteria and slime-molds to mosquitos, trees and elephants. The means by which they survive as individuals vary, but all must deal with perceptual control in the context of their physical structure. This category is about differences and similarities in perceptual control hierarchies in bodies with different kinds of biomechanics, such as the flexible trunk of an elephant, eels with electric possibilities for action, trees that sense and act against the predations of some insects. How do their different biomechanics affect what and how they control the perceptions they do? Evolution This category is about the origins and evolution of living control systems. Experimental Findings Post your and other’s PCT related experiments and findings here. biophysics Learning This category is for discussion of a PCT model of learning. Economics Language Use this subcategory to discuss language as control of perception. Motor control MOL research Computational PCT As a core of PCT, the details of simulation, demos, code and programming should be discussed in this category. Robotics AI, Robotics, Computers based on PCT are welcome here. Policy Ethology Collective Control Use this subcategory to discuss situations where more than one autonomous control system participates in controlling what is perceived to be the same environmental variable. This is fundamental to modeling social topics including language, culture, education, politics, and management. Emotion What are emotions? What are their somatic and neurological origins? Are they controllable perceptions, and if so, how? Can they be influenced by controlling other perceptions? Neuroscience Reorganization This subcategory is for discussion of research into reorganization and the posited reorganization system.
