Book question

[From Rick Marken (970919.2100)]

Is anyone out there familiar with a book called "Psychology of
Human Control: A General Theory of Purposeful Behavior" by Myles
I. Friedman and George H. Lackey that was published in 1991 by
Praeger? I stmbled accross it at Amazon books. The URL is:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0275938115/4944-9921420-192971

Who are Myles Friedman and George Lackey and why aren't they on
CSGNet?

I wish I knew. Have you ordered the book? I'll look for it in Widener on
Monday.

I can't answer the first question, but I'll venture a guess on
the second. They have no idea what control is. At least if this
book counts as evidence. They maintain that the unique
capability of human beings is our ability to make accurate
predictions and that these predictions allow us to exercise
control. Sounds like Hans would be comfortable with this
approach, but we will have to look elsewhere.
