OK, folks. Just a little over one week to go!!

Everything seems to be going OK. The main things remaining
are:

1) Parking

I need to distribute of parking permits to those who need
them. I will talk to conference services at BU about this
but right now I am only getting parking permits for the
following individuals:

Bob Summer 4 days/nights
Bill Williams 4 days/nights
Hugh Gibbon 1 day
Nick Skinner 1 day

If anyone else would like a parking permit please let me
know _immediately_. They are $8/day $8/night.

2) Transportation from Airport to Shelton Hall

At least one person has contacted me asking about trans-
portation from Logan Airport to Shelton Hall (the dorm at
BU where we will be staying). I believe most people are
arriving some time on Wednesday, 7/26. There are three
main ways to get from Logan to Shelton.

  a. Take a taxi. It cost $20 but maybe it will work if more
than 1 person can share. If you are coming in on Wednesday
and would like to share a cab, please post the time you
are arriving and the airline and we'll see if we can get
you together with someone else coming in at about the same time.

Or

b. Take public transportation. This is _much_ cheaper
than a cab but a little tougher if you have several bags. Here
are the directions for getting from Logan to Shelton hall using
public transportation:

Depart terminal and pick up the Shuttle bus to the Subway "T".
Get on the Blue Line inbound to Boston.

Get off at Government Center change to the green line outbound
"B" Boston College/Commonwealth Ave.

Get off the "T" at the Kenmore Square station depart station
exiting to street Boston University/Commonwealth Ave.

Walk with the flow of traffic one block and make a right on
Deerfield Street. There is a Howard Johnsons on your left.

Proceed down one block and Shelton Residence Hall is on the corner
of Bay State Road and Deerfield Street. 91 Bay State Road.

The "T" is $.85 one way.

Or

c. Get picked up by a local who us attending the meeting.

If anyone in the Boston area can make themselves available for
shuttling people from the Airport to Shelton hall, please post
to me or the net and we'll try to arrange a connection with those
who would like a ride to the meeting from a fellow control
theorist.

Please feel free to keep in touch with me by e-mail if you have
any concerns or suggestions regarding the meeting.

Again, it look like we will have about 33 people at the meeting,
30 of whom will be attendees. This will be a large meeting by
CSG standards -- and it should be a great on.

area, and maybe want to park while I get settled in early afternoon.

Also, are you going to publish a list of attendees here on the net
before the conf?
It would be helpful to me, at least.

Also, how do I get the current list of instructions for things like
stopping my mail on CSGnet? When I went on vacation a month ago I tried
to stop my mail but the instructions I used seem not to work.

Yes. There is on-campus metered parking that is less expensive
than pass parking if one is just parking for a short time (1-3 Hrs).

I don't know how to do this off hand. My inclination would be to
just unsubscribe and then subscribe again when I returned (see
instructions at http://www.ed.uiuc.edu/csg/CSGNetsubscribe.html).

Phil (and anyone else). I am coming in on United 174 at 4:30 pm
on the same day. I don't know Logan but I bet they have Rental
Car places in the terminal (after the baggage claim). So if you
(and anyone else coming in around that time) want to share a cab,
why don't we meet at the Avis booth (assuming there is one) at
around 5:00 pm or so?

No. In fact I'll take people's word for it if they say they
have the spiral. I just want to know how many to bring. I'm

responsible for the existence of _Mind Readings_, I will let

COME IN AT A STRANGE TIME, i.e. when the trains aren't running. If so, then

Hi Bruce --

I was wrong about parking costs; it's $10 per _day_ -- meaning
day and night! So if you want to leave your car at BU wed through
saturday (4 days) it's just $40. I reserved parking for you for
those days; just tell them who you are at the lot (which I
will identify on the net once I find out what it is) and they'll
give you the pass there.
