[From Bill Powers (2003.03.26.1449 MST)]
I've noticed a number of posts in which the actual message is quite short
(In the shortest I've seen, the entire message was "Right!"), but is
followed by the entire original post to which the person is replying. It
helps the reader sort out who is saying what, and about what, if only the
relevant parts of the original post are retained.
This has been commented on before, so I'll leave it at that. For those who
want to delete the unneeded text, however, there is a fix that Eudora
allows, and maybe some other mail programs too. When you read a message in
Eudora, there's an icon in the message menu bar that looks like a pencil.
Clicking on it allows editing the received message. One has to be careful
not to alter the received message (On a list where multiple copies exist
and an archjive is kept, there would be no point in _deliberately_ changing
a message). The unneeded quote of the entire original message can easily be
deleted and the message can be stored with control-S.
Best,
Bill P.
