RM: It looks like a kind of snazzy "biofeedback" thing to me. They are
capitalizing on the fact that the left side of the brain is concerned
with right side behavior, and the right side brain with left side
behavior. So when you imagine a right side movement the control
systems on the left side of the brain (working in imagination mode)
get all fired up; and vice versa for imagining a left side movement.
The head gear picks up and filters the activity from left and right
and uses that to affect the left right orientation of the flying
device. I can't believe that the control of the device using this
method is very "tight" but I've done biofeedback -- where I controlled
the size of a square displayed on a computer by just "thinking" (my
"thoughts" were monitored using a GSR reader) and it worked OK. They
may be able to get this "fly by thought" think working but I'd be
surprised if they can ever get it so that one can control with beain
waves as precised as one can using the more traditional output
devices. But if those devices don't work maybe it wold be nice to have
something that allowed you to produce intended results -- no matter
how laboriously -- by just thinking.
