CSG 2005

[From Rick Marken (2005.05.03.1100)]

It's just a little over two months until the CSG Conference (and MOL
workshop that precedes it) and I would like to get a better idea of what the
attendance level would be. If you are planning to attend the CSG conference,
please send your deposit ($200) me ASAP at:

Rick Marken
CSG Treasurer
10459 Holman Ave
LA, CA 90024

and let me know if you plan to attend both the MOL workshop and the
Conference or just one or the other.

Best

Rick

Any news on the status of the CSG 2005 meeting? I looked through my records
and found that I had already started making the arrangement for the 2003
meeting by Sept. 2002.

Best regards

Rick

Any news on the status of the CSG 2005 meeting? I looked through my records
and found that I had already started making the arrangement for the 2003
meeting by Sept. 2002.

I didn't get any response to my suggestion that I look into whether
the Creiff Hill site would be available. Do I conclude that it's of
no interest?

Quote from my message of 10 Sept:
This somewhat off the top of my head, but when we were looking for a
place to hold our three-week music camp, one place we looked at was a
kind of retreat location in the countryside not too far from Toronto
airport. It's not too expensive (I've forgotten the actual prices
quoted, but they worked very well for us). They can host up to about
80 people comfortably, which I think is adequate for CSG purposes.

If you are interested, look at <http://www.crieffhills.com/>\. If you
then want to look further into the possibility, I can act as
intermediary, as I had quite a bit of contact with the manager, and I
think we parted on good terms when our music group decided to go
elsewhere.

I think Bruce Abbott (President of CSG) should be involved in this. I
thought the conference was going to be near Pittsburgh but I think Kenny
said that it fell through. I spoke to Dag some time ago about having it in
the Bay Area (San Francisco). I'd be happy to arrange to have it here in LA
again. I just brought it up because it was around this time that I had
nailed down reservations for the 2003 conference. It might be difficult to
get a place if we wait much longer.

I think having the thing in Crieff Hill sounds fine but I'd like to see what
the CSG President (as well as those tasked at the CSG meeting to look into a
site -- I forget who they were) have to say about it. Maybe someone's
already reserved a place and I just don't know about it.

Regards

Rick

[From Bruce Nevin (2004.09.30 23:10 EDT)]

Toronto sounds terrific. It has the added attraction of making it likely
that Martin Taylor will attend once more. And it fits our objective of
meeting in the eastern part of the continent this year, which SF and LA
won't do unless the earthquakes get much worse, and then it would be at
best the east coast of a different (and very narrow) continent.

I second the motion, but David Goldstein and Kenny Kitzke are the committee
and they have yet to make a final report to Bruce A. Who is coordinating
the site search? I think David is finding that things are pretty expensive
in New Jersey and surroundings. Maybe they should communicate with Martin
directly??

Best,

By all means. I can't say whether Crieff Hill would be available, or
priced as you would like. But I can enquire, if that is their wish.

Martin is enquiring about the Toronto site and David has an appointment
with College of NJ officials to check out that possibility in about 2 weeks.
