[from Mary Powers (980504)]

This message is for those people on CSGnet who are actually members of the
CSG (i.e. who pay dues and show up at conferences).

This is to inform you that I am no longer available to organize conferences
of the CSG. Someone else needs to volunteer if there is to be a conference
in 1999 (and beyond). The job involves finding a location, reserving
accomodations, determining food service, transportation, costs, etc.,
sending information by email and snail mail, receiving registrations and
payments, and so on.

I am also unavailable to continue as secretary/treasurer beyond Dec. 31,
1998. At that time I will turn over the bank accounts, bookkeeping records,
Federal and State paperwork and documents, and membership lists, to my
successor. If there is no successor, I think there will be no alternative to
dissolving the CSG: i.e. notifying the State of Colorado and the IRS, and,
in consultation with the other officers, disbursing any remaining funds
according to IRS requirements.

Dissolution will not prevent further meetings, but they will be entirely up
to the individuals who want to meet. There will be no address list other
than the email addresses of people on CSGnet, and no funding for students
and financially strapped people.

This should all be decided at the Vancouver meeting in July. If you are not
planning to attend that meeting, but have sent membership dues and/or gifts
in 1997, your thoughts and opinions are welcome and will be taken into
consideration at the meeting. You can send comments to me at
powers_w@frontier.net or by mail to 73 Ridge Place, Durango CO 81301-8136.
