We are very pleased to announce that we have managed to import the CSGNET archive into this Discourse forum!

You will now see another 65,000 posts from 28 years of discussion about Perceptual Control Theory.

So, take a stroll down memory lane and have a look at topics that haven’t seen the light of day for decades!

Or search through the decades to find a topic of interest. Why not try one of these,

> [Search Bill Powers](http://discourse.iapct.org/search?q=%22bill%20powers%22)
> [Search Rubber Band Demo](http://discourse.iapct.org/search?q=Rubber%20Band%20Demo)
> [Search Method of Levels](http://discourse.iapct.org/search?q=Method%20of%20Levels)
> [Search robotics](http://discourse.iapct.org/search?q=robotics)

or try a search of your own. Here is a [quick guide on how to search](http://discourse.iapct.org/t/how-to-search-the-archive-by-year/15460)

The import success rate was approximately 98%, so you may find a few posts missing. If so, let us know and we’ll see if can dig them out. You may encounter some issues when browsing the archive, please see [here](http://discourse.iapct.org/t/before-browsing-the-archive/15459) for information.

You cannot create or reply to any post in the archive. If you want to continue an old thread, you can revive it by following this [guide](http://discourse.iapct.org/t/reviving-an-archived-post/15458).

More later on a few other points, such as merging your old user accounts.

Enjoy!

Regards,
Rupert

We are very fortunate to have had the CSGNET archive available to us to import. This is down to one man, Dag Forssell, who deserves our thanks.

The mailing list only retains a few years of posts. So, Dag has been diligently saving all the emails that have been posted on the CSGNET mailing list for the last 28 years.

Importing this fantastic archive into Discourse and making it available to all would not have been possible without Dag’s work.

Thanks Dag!

**Merging your old CSGNET user accounts**

If you were on the CSGNET mailing list for a number of years, it is likely that you changed your email address a number of times. If so, you will find that there are a number of different users under your name.

If that is the case let us know, by sending a private message to admin, forumControlSystem, which user names are involved and which is your target account.

Let us know if you are not able to identify the accounts let us know and we should be able to help.

On CSGNET many different types of formatting were used to display replies. For some posts this formatting may not have been migrated properly.

These will have to be tidied up on a case-by-case basis. If you spot such messages let the [admin team](http://discourse.iapct.org/g/admins) know and we will see if we can clean them up.

This is really terrific! I second all praise to Dag for his indefatigable work as archivist and publisher.

And to you, Rupert, and others who have contributed to pulling off this conversion and transfer into Discourse.

Now we are not dependent upon a university listserv which throws posts older than 5 years into the bit bucket.

This was one of the important goals that we set when we re-initiated CSG as IAPCT at the (delayed) annual meeting of 2017. Two years and a half for a challenging and vital achievement. Thank you! And not only do we benefit and owe thanks now, but on behalf of the future of PCT, thank you!

/Bruce
