Darwinian Explanation

[From Bruce Gregory 9970812.1700 EDT)]

I propose the following Darwinian explanation for the relative
hairlessness of human beings. Since there are no obvious
adaptive advantages to this characteristic (or to the
subcutaneous layer of fat peculiar to humans among the
primates), I have decided that it must have arisen as a result
of sexual selection. Human males prefer hairless females with
enlarged breasts and human females prefer hairless males with
bulging biceps. Therefore, hairless, big breasted, big biceped
early humans produced more offspring, etc. etc.

(The _reason_ for these preferences is left as an exercise for
the student.)

Gee. This is kind of fun....
