Economic Demo

[From Rick Marken (2000.02.06.1430)]

I put a new demo called "The Economics of Control" up at my demos
page (http://home.earthlink.net/~rmarken/demos.html). It is basically
a demonstration of the Giffen effect which is the surprising
observation (brought to the attention of CSG members ay back in the
mid 1980s by amateur economist Bill Williams) that an increase in
the price of a commodity can lead to an increase in demand for
(consumption of) that commodity. I would be interested in knowing
whether the demo works for anyone besides myself. Also, I would
like to know whether the instructions (which are fairly long for
this one) are clear enough. The reward for those who try the demo
and read the instructions carefully is a pointer (half way down
the page and marked "Click me") to some fascinating comments Bill
Powers made about the Giffen effect on CSGNet way back in 1993.

Best

The demo works fine on my computer.

Neat.

Do you think the Giffen Effect actually plays a significant role in our
economy? Where are Bill Power's remarks on it?

The demo works fine on my computer.

Great. I presume you were using Explorer as the browser?

Do you think the Giffen Effect actually plays a significant
role in our economy?

Yes. I think it might.

Where are Bill Power's remarks on it?
