The very idea of selling your soul to the Devil in return for something
assumes that the Devil is bound by the social convention of living up to
agreements. If he did that, of course, then he wouldn't be Evil. What I
found chilling about this short story was that it so clearly revealed what
Evil is all about.
So whom has sold their soul to a virtuous and all powerful check on the
benighted business person? <g>
I was raised to believe that the love of money was the root of all evil, but
later have come to believe that the intrinsic and primary human
reference level <g>

the need to bring the state of near perfection from the womb into
postpartum life, causes far more harm; usually sacrificing the good (of
the dynamic and free mkt place) to the perfect (regulators plan/law that
attempts to control the control processes of sovereign living control
systems) .
