I'll confess right away to being abysmally ignorant of the detailed workings
of experimental design and scientific research of the kind I assume you are
suggesting, but it seems to me that experimenting boils down to formulating
and testing hypotheses. It also seems to me that formulating and testing
hypotheses account for much of what gets posted to this list. ("Now there's
a double entendre if ever I've seen one," he said with a smile on his face.)
