From John Appel
I have long been intensely interested in Behavioral Control. But I have
not been able to find colleagues, or references in the literature on the
subject. So I was delighted to find CSG, the first and only scientists
who even to use the word. "control" I have reluctantly concluded,
however, that my notions of control and those of the CSG are on separate
tracks. I find little interest in CSG in exploring BCT, except possibly
to show how PCT is better.
Simuilarly I find myself not very interested in exploring PCT further.
This is because, 1, As a medical doctor I need a theory which enables me
to cure mentally disorderded patients. So far I have not seen that CPT
does so. PCT seem primarily interested in explaining, as contrasted
with, doing things 2, I find it very difficult to understand PCT. I
see, dimly, that if I tried harder I might understand such ideas as
reference perception, however, the language of PCT seems to exceed my
grasp.
I am grateful to various members of CSG, Rick, Bruce, T. Harms and a few
others. Telking to them has clarified my own thinking, if not theirs.
I have found a news group, "Behavioral,Brain Sciences," <
bbs@coglit.soston.oc.uk> with 20,000 members who use such words as
"choice" and I think I'll try them for a while
So, fare well, I leave you to your dialogue on chaos and anarchy.
