from emmiss to tsuriss

[From Ellery Lanier (970427.12:33MST)]

Rick, Bruce, Bill, et al,
When I read the B:CP book, I enjoyed it and knew that here was a clarification
of psychology equivalent to the switch from the heliocentric system. At the
Flagstaff
session I even seemed to understand what was going on. But now I am tossed
high,
dry, and clear, on an unknown beach on a strange world.
The Blom exchanges and the 'disturbances' talk, make me feel like an outsider.
I just won my PhD designation, so I am not totally ignorant. My degree is in
Psychology (plus anthropology and biology). The only ones I can follow (
to some extent), are Bill and Mary. Can they be the only coherent members
of this crew?
While it is true that I have been absorbed in completing
my dissertation I do have a rudimentary notion of what PCT is about. I
dragged out
a few Encyclopedias and checked out Control Systems. It's all engineering
and I would
have to review differential equations, etc., to understand the material.
There must be an easier way. As it is, I feel I am watching a squirrel
wheel with spinning creatures.
All I can do is trash most of the discourse--which is a shame, because I
know it is
discussing important ideas. So around half a dozen or so individuals engage
in a
private exchange. Reiteration of fundamentals would be a blessing.
So till I can find my way into the engineering mode, my emmiss will be very
limited.

Ellen,

You might want to check out Rick Marken's web page with demos and
explanations, and papers. I found this helpful.

The web page address is: http://www.leonardo.net

While you are there you might want to check out a paper I wrote. Click
on technical papers on PCT and then click on Perceptual Control Theory
Psychotherapy. Let me know what you think.

Also of interest is Ed Ford's Responsible Thinking list. He is also
starting a web page.

His web page is: http://www.edford.com It is under construction now.

If you posted to the CSG list a case you are working on, maybe it would
start a conversation.
