Norman Hovda (991129.1431)--
Dec issue _Scientific American_, p. 112, Antonio R. Damasio, writes
"How the Brain Creates the Mind."
Damasio's recent book _The Feeling of What Happens: Body and Emotion in
the Making of Consciousness_, presents an interesting and, to my limited
mind, plausible account of consciousness in terms of second-order
representations. Naturally there were places I wished he had read
Powers (he makes friendly, if passing mention, of other radical
theorists, like Maturana and Varela and Julian Jaynes), but I suppose
the book can claim at least the relevance to PCT of addressing a
still-existing gap within that theory.
