Purpose: Beginning the HPCT lexicon.
Rick, what do I have to do to post to the CSG web site?
I have waited til Bjorn posted his dictionary. As Bill pointed out earlier I had a bit of a different idea. First, I will have the lexicon reside on the CSG web site. Second, I will use what I can from Bjorn with the following rules in place. a) In the lexicon I will use capitals to words and phrases that represent model (theory) entities and processes. I will refer to these as Technical words and phrases. I will use lower-case letters to describe the phenomena the model produces. Words with no lexicon definitions mean we have not defined the phenomena relative to the model yet. It does not mean there are no definitions. Second, I will post a group of words to CSGnet as opportunity allows for your review. When posted to the net they will have already have been reviewed by Bill Powers. They will remain on the net for 48 hrs. If no changes are made they will be entered into the lexicon. Once in the lexicon they can be edited, and deleted as new knowledge becomes known. If that becomes the case I would suggest the person who wants the revision, post it to CSGnet with the revised definition, or reason for deletion. We will give it the same 48 hrs on the net. If no one challenges it will go into the lexicon. I will ask that any new words be sent to me first. I will send them on to Bill and when Bill has a chance he will review the word or phrase. When done he will post it to the net for it’s 48 hr. net review period.
I will feed Bill about 5 words a pop. Lets see what the time period is for Bill and if 5 is a good number or if we should increase or decrease it.
How does this sound? Any comments or suggestions? I will wait 48 hrs for a reply. That means, by Friday morning, If I get no responses I will begin sending my list to Bill. I hope to hear from some of you.

Marc Abrams (2003.05.14.0135) -- Purpose: Beginning the HPCT lexicon. Rick, what
do I have to do to post to the CSG web site?
Why not just e-mail me the document as an HTML (text) or PDF file. I'll put it up
at the CSG site with a pointer from the "Tutorials" page.
Best regards
Rick

I suggest that it will be easier for Marc and Bjorn to keep their
respective lexicon and dictionary on their own web pages and put only links
to them (with any sort of writeup deemed useful) on CSGnet (unless there
are reasons I don't know about for not doing this).
I think you mean they should keep their respective lexicon and dictionary on their
own web _sites_, not pages. I agree. I just don't know whether or not Marc has a
site I could point to. But I will add a pointer to Bjorn's site when I get a
chance (or some nudging from those who are interested). I will be happy to put
Marc's stuff up on the CSG site if he doesn't have his own
Best
Rick

to them (with any sort of writeup deemed useful) on CSGnet (unless there
are reasons I don't know about for not doing this). It's much easier and
quicker to edit your own web page than to send a package of revisions that
someone else then has to enter. Also the CSGnet web page wouldn't need to
be re-edited for every little change that's made.
The way I see the lexicon developing, it will start exactly as Marc
envisioned it, as a translation from non-PCT to PCT terminology. The PCT
terminology can be given either very briefly or with some detail. But then
it would also be possible to link from the PCT side of the lexicon to
Bjorn's dictionary, so that the PCT terms in the lexicon could be expanded
on by various commentators. When Dag Forssell has time over the next year
or two, he could provide still further links into his own considerable
archives. I can see this developing into a really extensive course in PCT
with further links to experimental work and demos -- a tremendous
realization of the potential of the World Wide Web.
Only a suggestion, of course -- I wouldn't be doing the work anyway.
Best,
Bill P.

My web page is not operational yet. But I gues that is as good a reason as
any to get it going.
Nice ideas, I like them.
