Here is another way of playing with communication and internal standards
in the organization. Get several friends, maybe six or more, a piece of
lined tablet paper, and the necessary number of pencils. On the top line,
write a partial sentence, perhaps
she bumped the table when the man
Give the paper to the next person. Instruct the person to copy all the
words except the first exactly, and then add one of his own that would
make a reasonable sentence. She might write
bumped the table when the man said
Then insgtruct the person to fold the top line back and under so that only
the new single line is visible. Then each person in turn does the same.
Succesive lines could be
the table when the man said he
table when the man said he wanted
and so forth. Here there are implied internal standards being offered
for use and the individual standards at each addition of a word, but
everyone will at least follow the standard to "make sense." When you get
through, the sentence will feel as if it ought to make sense, but somehow
....
