Gary Cziko (930407.1806 GMT) --

So it seems to me be that there is no (useful) information in p about d,
nor information in o (output) about d. Maybe that's what you've been
trying to say all along. But if so, why didn't you just say it? Seems
simple enough to me.--Gary

You're kidding, right? If you look over the first posts in this debate
you will see that I said PRECISELY that ("there is no useful
information in p about d") and have been explaining it ever since;
to (almost) no avail (except that now you've got it).

Are you serious in not knowing whether I was kidding? You're kidding, right?

To find out whether your efforts (and Bill Powers's) have been to (almost)
no avail, I would like to conduct a poll of CSGnetters. The question is:

"IN A FUNCTIONING CONTROL SYSTEM, IS THERE USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE
DISTURBANCE IN THE PERCEPTUAL SIGNAL?"

Please answer in the HEADER of your note (no message needed, although
comments are welcome) sent directly to me <g-cziko@uiuc.edu> NOT to CSGnet
thus:

YES INFORMATION
NO INFORMATION
MAYBE INFORMATION

I will take votes through the end of the week and post the results then.

Powers, Marken and Bourbon do not need to vote unless they wish to enter a
vote other than NO INFORMATION. Taylor and Randall do not need to vote
unless they wish to vote other than YES INFORMATION.--Gary
