I notice also that our exchange has had the effect of extinguishing
all other commentary about leakage...Those considerations, together
with unencouraging prospects for resolution, leave me somewhat
uneasy about continuing.
Though I was the who originally brought up the topic, I don't feel
competent yet to discuss very much about "Leakage". But one way I
can learn more is by reading your discussions with Bill. So please keep
posting. Also, don't worry about "resolution", it won't happen. My
experience is that people who disagree on fundamental issues (as
do many of the people on this net) rarely end up agreeing on anything
except superficialities. The value of this forum (for me) is as a
catalyst for developing new ideas to test, new observations to make, new
ways to apply the model and new approaches to modeling. If resolution is
what you want, I'm afraid you're going to be sorely disappointed.

Correct. I can't think of very much conventional psychological research
that has been done by an experimenter who is aware that
the behavior seen might be aimed at the control of perceptual variables.
Can you?
When you see words that you can stretch so that they might
conceivable seem to support such research, whether or not
they were so intended, it seems to lead to what often looks
like an S-R "behaviour." On go the blinkers, and out come
extreme and unsupportable statements.
So I presume, then, that you now see that all research done without
awareness that behavior is the control of perception should not be
"supported"?
I don't have time right now to deal with your discussion of measuring
"open loop" functions in closed loop systems. I'll try to get to it
later but I sure hope Bill P. deals with it; it looks like "rant"
material to me;-)
