[From Rick Marken (951202.1030)]
Phil Runkel (1 Dec 95) --
I beseech you to continue your research.
Of all investigations in psychology or other social science, indeed of all
investigations in any branch of science that I know about, the work you and
those other three (and maybe three more you forgot to think about) are doing
is the work I care about the most. The very most. Whether I have given you
evidence that I understand it, or maybe some of it, I must of course leave
to your judgment.
I was really moved (I'm talking _tears_ here) and humbled by your post, Phil.
And I am embarrassed because your comments show how my overwhelming desire
to see general appreciation and understanding of PCT science has blinded
me to the fact that there are people like you -- brilliant and humane people
like you-- who appreciate and understand PCT science and my small contribution
to it. I will, indeed, continue my research with renewed vigor (I wish I
could live up to even 1/10 of the faith you seem to have in me) because
you've helped me remember that doing PCT research is not a waste of time
-- at all.
I'm really glad that you are working on another book. I can't wait to see
it. You are an excellent writer and teacher -- and you understand PCT (and
my research) as well as (more likely, better than) I do.
I am really, really humbled by your comments.
Signed
A friend and admirer
