need high school PCT text

[Brian D’Agostino (20050414.1955 EST)]

I’m teaching robotics to some high school students, and I’m looking for a very elementary introduction to percerptual control theory, ideally one that will also have some practical relevance for programming control systems in C using a Handy Board processor. Does anyone know of anything like this?

Thanks,

Brian D’Agostino

I'm teaching robotics to some high school students, and I'm looking for a _very_ elementary introduction to percerptual control theory, ideally one that will also have some practical relevance for programming control systems in C using a Handy Board processor. Does anyone know of anything like this?

May I humbly suggest my little paper:

Marken, R. S. (2002) Looking At Behavior Through Control Theory Glasses, Review of General Psychology, 6, 260–270

It's a pretty elementary introduction to PCT (without ever mentioning it by name) and, while it doesn't deal with the relevance of PCT to robotics at the programming level, it does refer to articles and programs (that are available on the internet and pointed to at http://www.mindreadings.com/PCTGlasses.htm) that do.

Best

Rick

I think Rick's proposal is acceptable.
But I can't neglect a reference to Tom Borboun. I appreciate his accounts.
An I am in short his comments, his knowledge and his simple way to explain
aspects of PCT.

Thanks Rick and Bjorn, I'll get Rick's article at the library tonight and I've already looked at some of Tom's. This stuff looks just right.

How about the BYTE articles.

See http://www.livingcontrolsystems.com/about_pct.html and scroll down a little.
