I hope lots of you took the time today to watch one of the finest control
systems on the planet - Tiger Woods.
It occurred to me that Modern Control Theory may not be much use in
understanding living systems. Even such relative newcomers as human beings
have been around in basically the same form for hundreds of thousands of
years, without any engineers to help them over the hard parts

Mary, this is a sentiment that I fully share. But I would like to
broaden it somewhat: It occurred to me that _science_ may not be much
use in understanding living systems. Even such relative newcomers as
human beings have been around in basically the same form for hundreds
of thousands of years, without any _scientists_ to help them over the
hard parts

An incredible display of control.
Also, Circ d'Soleil (sp?) was on Bravo on our cable system. Another
incredible display of control.
BTW, I had planned on attending this year's meetings in Durango. The
August 6-10 option may pose a problem for me. However, I shall try
to be flexible.
