Old tutorials in new form

Hi everyone,

If you’ve seen Bill’s old PCT tutorials for DOS called Demo1 and Demo2 (you can download them at http://www.livingcontrolsystems.com/demos/tutor_pct.html ), you might like the new version in JavaScript: http://www.pct-labs.com/

The text is almost exactly the same (minor changes to instructions, about pressing the buttons instead of using keyboard keys, and target moving left-right instead of up-down). And I hope the programs work exactly the same as well. Let me know if you see any errors, differences from the old versions, or experience some bugs.

I’ve left the ‘under construction’ note because there might still be some changes to the code. It is open-source (MIT) licence, feel free to modify, change and tinker with the code, or use it in your own projects.

Tutorial 1 code: http://www.pct-labs.com/tutorial1/tutorial1.js

Tutorial 2 code: http://www.pct-labs.com/tutorial2/tutorial2.js

Helper functions:

http://www.pct-labs.com/js/lib.js

http://www.pct-labs.com/js/stat.js

I’ll probably upload these to github eventually. If some of you are js programmers, let me know if there are ways of improving the code.

Best,

Adam

Great work, Adam; I am absolutely thrilled to see these PCT tutorials of Bill’s being made available on the Web!

In fact, I think that your JavaScript versions are better than the originals: You don’t have to select each from a menu, just scroll down the page to get to the next step.

At this point I’ve only gone through them quickly, but did notice a few things that might need some adjustments. I’ll put together some suggestions and send them along to you when I’ve had the chance to look more carefully.

You’ve really whet my appetite for seeing your JavaScript versions of the LCS III demos!

Bruce
