Are you bringing out the next CL soon? How many to print is a
poser - I've never really known how many Ed did each time (which
made it hard to figure cost per copy, among other things).
I don't mind giving house-room to extras, but there is no point
to the added expense. I'd like to know if reprinting, say, 20
extra copies of any back issue would be reasonably easy if we do
run out. I would say 20 extra copies, over and above the number
necessary to send to members, would be plenty. I have on hand
from 9-41 copies of v. 2 & 3 back issues, plus a shitload of
ever-optimistic Ed's v. 1 issues. I was down to a single copy of
one issue, and had to refuse McPhail's request for a bunch (I
told him to take it to Kinko's) - then 8 more showed up when Ed
unloaded his stash on me later. I was wondering if it wouldn't
have been easier all around simply to have a reprinting, since
the number is so small it's a per copy price with no breaks for
quantity.
We need to talk (you 'n' me, or, members at the conference) about
getting this here journal into libraries and into the hands of
non-CSG members. I'm not optimistic about libraries, because of
ever-shrinking budgets and ever-proliferating journals, but I
would like to see more people reading it. I've thought about a
non-CSG subscription of about $24/year, but feel a little antsy
about members switching to that instead of coughing up the full
$45, which covers the student costs, overseas postage, etc. On
the other hand, there are people, I believe, who would like to
get it, for whom $45 is a bit much. What do you think?
