Another PCT related piece of software you may be interested in is
Martin Taylor's and Allan Randall's "Control Builder 1.3b6"
It is a _very_ useful tool for building control systems and then
testing them out. Its all Mac based and Allan Randall did a
great job of building an easy to use icon driven interface.
I found it to be perfect for use in conjunction with studying
the "Control Primer Series" and would suggest that it could
save students a lot of time and effort (particularly the non-
programmers). They (Martin and Allan) even have a folder full
of control systems set up to match those found in the "Primer".
Martin Taylor indicated to me that it can be FTP'd from Bill
Silvert's archives. (See the CSG-Intro document for how to do
that.) However, Martin was kind enough to send it directly to
me. Perhaps if you ask real nice.......
Also Rick Marken has a very clean Mac version of his Mind Reading
demo. Its much nicer than the HyperCard versions I have done.
(HyperCard seems to be too slow to do a good job at 'reading
minds.') I've tested it on many different Macs and on many
different people at work. The Macs it doesn't bother, the people
it really does. From Lieutenants to Colonels you should see
their faces when they catch on that the computer can determine,
within reasonable accuracy, what they only privately know they
are doing. It works great with everybody but engineers -- they
seem to be able to see what's going on fairly easily. They
leave -- shaking their heads and muttering something about
'finally psychology is catching up'. If you ask Rick real
nice..... (er -- I mean -- uh - tactfully)......
