Just a note for anyone interested.
T. Horikawa et al., “Neural Decoding of Visual Imagery During Sleep,” Science, Vol. 340, 3 May 2013, pp. 639-642, found that “specific visual experience during sleep is represented by brain activity patterns shared by stimulus perception…” (p. 639).
This finding seems to overlap with Bill’s Figure 15.3 and discussion of dreaming, imagination, and perception in Behavior: The Control of Perception (2005) pp. 222-4, 226-7.
