[From Dag Forssell (20020509 13:20)]
Christine and I have decided to sell our home of 28 years and find
something a bit closer to our offspring, located in Palo Alto and San
Francisco, respectively. We have been thinking about this for several
years, since we can work anywhere, but with home prices up here and down
around Silicon Valley, not to mention the arrival of a grandchild in
mid-June - now is the time.
We are now in the process of making our home presentable. We have
researched the market around here, mostly by attending lots of open homes,
and by buying and reading a book called "For Sale by Owner in California"
which makes a lot of sense. One realtor in an open house last Sunday
volunteered: "The market is so hot now that you don't need a broker."
I shall remove PCT stuff from www.forssell.com and feature our house
instead. The sign on our lawn can then refer passers-by to
www.forssell.com. The Open House section in our local paper can refer to
same. This will bring me up-to-date on websites, and I shall leverage the
experience to www.PCTresources.com. As you all know, I have plenty of
content lined up.
Once we sell the house, which we expect to have on the market in one month
or even less, we expect to rent something around the Bay Area while we
explore housing in somewhat less expensive locations around our daughters.
With prices as they are, we will certainly trade down accomodations.
Right now, this means that my PCT library and flle cabinets are finding
homes in boxes and may not see the light of day for six to nine months. All
the video equipment likewise. Of course, I am not shutting down our working
computers, so I can work on various PCT reference materials to my heart's
content.
Christine and I are not making any committments to attend any conferences.
I may attend, but that will be decided late in the game. Lloyd Klinedinst
called to inquire as I was composing this message. We will work together so
the CSG conference gets video taped whether I personally show up or not.
I started a thread on UEC. I will pull together a summary of my take on
comments that followed, but that may take a few more days.
Best, Dag
