Hi Joe!
I am a graduate student who is developing a cognitive model to be utilized
in an organization theory of school health. I am interested in utilizing
PCT, HPCT, Fuzzy Logic, Chaos Theory to develop a theoretical foundation for
comprehending how value discrepancy (I.e., differences between individual
and organization) creates conflict in organizational settings such as a
school.
What are the observations (data) that you want to explain using these models?
What is it about the data that suggest that these models are appropriate?
Does anyone have suggestions on how to move this model to a more practical
evaluation instrument that school administrators could utilize to collect
data about individuals and their belief systems.
I'd have to see the model first (and how well it accounts for the data)
before I could suggest a way to make it a practical evaluation instrument.
But I can imagine (fantasize about) a practical evaluation instrument based
on a PCT model of conflict. Such a model would have to include a description
of the perceptual variables that are the objects of conflict; so an
evaluation instrument based on such a model would surely be aimed at
determining whether a person has a reference for any of these perceptions
and, if so, how important control of any of those perceptions is to the
person (the gain of the control loops). The instrument might also be aimed
at determining whether the person can tell whether or not he is in a
conflict (perhaps by creating imaginary conflict scenarios) and how he tries
to solve the conflict.
