Hi Ray. Your header looks great but could you try to put
it in the body of the post (like mine, above)
I don’t know how to get it to do this other than a copy and paste
or typing out the whole thing. Is there an easier way?

The "header" to which Rick refers is not the email header, but a line we
traditionally add by hand to identify the writer in the first line of a
post, together with a date and time index. In this post, this line is

[From Bill Powers (2000.09.09.1857 MDT)]

The format is

[From Name (yyyy.mm.dd.tttt XXX)]

where tttt is the 24-hour time and XXX is the time zone.

This allows the reader to see immediately who is writing a post, without
having to scroll to the end to see the signature. Also, when you use the
reply function to comment on someone's post you can just edit this header
so it indicates the originator of the post to which you're replying,
identified by date and time. For example, if you replied to me you would
delete the square brackets and the From, and end up with

Bill Powers (2000.09.09.1857 MDT)

which would be followed by exerpts from my post to which you're replying
(deleting all material not immediaely relevant, of course).

Best,

Bill P.
