Sorry Martin, Didn't read your post until after I posted my last post on Oded.
This will rap up my posts on THIS subject.
That's a very half-hearted apology, indeed.
It was said in jest. notice the Smiley at the end of my post. I don't feel I
have anything to apologize for.
When I read Oded's posting to
which you objected, I thought he was only stating quite neutral facts.
There seemed to be neither deliberate offense nor flippancy in it. The
word "bizarre" seemed quite appropriate, in context, though I can see that
taken out of context it might have appeared intended to be provocative.
Did you see his initial post to me ? Did you read my response to him ? I
"objected" to his response to my post.
I don't believe I took anything out of "context". From my perspective he was
spewing biased (his of course) anti american, anti capitalist rhetoric. He is
as entitled to his opinion as I am of mine.
It is a fact that people in different cultures have different views, and that
people in the USA are provided with VERY different news presentations in the
media than are people in other countries, which enhances those cultural
differences
Really? No argument about different cultures. But exactly how does the
"differences" in News coverage "enchance" this difference.
in perception (these differences are very easy to see here in
Toronto, where we get news from the US networks, the Canadian networks, the
BBC, and the French media every day).
Living in NYC I get to watch the Evening News from Russia, and a number of
other foriegn countries. Frankly it seems like the same kind of stuff to me.

_WHO's_ Assumption? Not mine. I think he was VERY offensive. I don't think my
post deserved the kind of BS rhetoric that I got. I don't need, nor do I want
to be "lectured" on the perceived "evils" of my country. If he has a problem
with it fine. He "assumed" because of my fondness for a "Free market" system
that I was somehow closed minded ( equated my views to being a fundamentalist
preacher ) and against the oppressed of the world.

What? A _NEUTRAL_ point of view? NO ONE has a neutral point of view.
