By the way, has anyone tried my "Selection of consequences"
demo? If so, any comments?
Martin Taylor -- I tried installing Internet Explorer (IE) with the JIT
(just in time) Java compiler but when I run it I just get an error that
says "not enough memory to run Java". I've tried allocating mega amounts
of memory to IE and that doesn't help. The same thing happens when I run
IE with regular Java. This is very infuriating because
Microsoft says IE 3.0 with JIT runs great on a Power PC Mac (which I
have). So I've given up. I'm waiting for Gates to return my call.
But I don't think IE with JIT will make much difference in the
appearance of the animation in the demos. It says that it speeds the
processing but _not_ the graphics; as far as I can tell, the background
calculations don't seem to account for much of the speed of
the animation. But I may be wrong. I really want to see what the demos
look like with the JIT compiler but I can't until I figure out why I'm
getting the memory error. Any clues?
Bruce Abbott, Bill Powers -- any news about the weight control
study?
