I had difficulty with your post because I think you are confused
about the definition of "paradigm". I think a more correct word
for your ideas about roots is "metaphor". You are talking about
roots and their functions as if a control system "is like" a root
system.
On this net, PCT is the paradigm. It is quite likely that roots,
the way root cells function, the overall organization of plant
life, etc., etc., are examples of the workings of control systems
(not the other way around). However, there are no plant
physiologists that I know of who are investigating botanical
control theory.
