Just wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed your presentation of
linguistics on CSGnet -- interesting stuff, and you present it so clearly
(maybe BECAUSE you present it so clearly!). Too bad about this, though:
I think this discussion is getting nowhere fast. It occurs to me that the
first title I thought of for the new book may be the right one after all --
if not for this book, then for some other book: Starting Over. The problem
here is that none of the interpretations or data you mention have the PCT
view or PCT methods behind them. There's a large and well-entrenched
structure of interpretation there, and to untangle it would cost more time
and effort than it's worth.
Why am I not surprised? (;->
