Self-regulation chapter

[Jeff Vancouver 980116.16:15 EST]

I have recently completed a chapter for a new handbook (The Handbook of
Self-Regulation, Academic Press) and used some figures from CSG, Inc (they
appear in Living Control Systems) that I would like to get copyright
permission. The first is Bill's adaptation of Wiener's control system
diagram. This is a little complicated as the adaptation appears in Psych
Review and the original in MIT press. I assume I will need to contact MIT
press, not sure about APA, and suspect CSG as well. I also adapted the
hierarchy of control model of Mary's that first appears in the 1988
Cybernetics article, but makes no copyrights reference. May I have CSG,
Inc's permission to copy these figures and do you know who else's
permission I need?

FYI, about this chapter. I was invited to an experts meeting on
self-regulation (there were six of us) to talk about the models in our
field. I talked a lot about PCT. I expected resistance to the controlling
perceptions idea (figuring self-regulation people talk about regulating
behavior), but did not get it (there was a Bandurian who was not too
receptive). Anyway, you all will hate my chapter (it talks about the
integration of various models in pscyhology), so I have not bothered to
mention it.

You have my permission and Mary's to use any published Figures, with
suitable credits. My rendition of Wiener's diagram was not a direct copy,
so you probably don't need MIT's permission. You probably do need to ask
Psych Rev. if you use published Figures.

Aw, Jeff, I might complain about it but I don't think I'd actually hate it.
Interesting, and expected, that the Bandurian would be the holdout.

Best,
