THE LOUIE FREE SHOW and Galileo

From Phil Runkel in response to Rick M's of 990116.0800:

In recent months, I have been dipping into the psychological literature
(and a few other literatures, too) to be sure I am not, in my book, saying
something about ordinary academic psychology that is wrong or unfair. And
during the same months, I have read a good deal of what Bill Powers has
been saying on the CSGnet (as well as reviewing some of his earlier
writings). The comparison is wrenching. I think your analogy to Galileo
is not at all far-fetched. I, too, feel proud and privileged to be here
and, once a year, actually to speak with Bill and shake his hand.

And to Bill: Thanks, pal, not only for your science, but for your
forbearance, too.
