It's not too much control that drives people mad; it's trying to
control what is basically not controllable.

That is one form of madness. There is another type: living in an
incomprehensible world -- in my terminology: having an inadequate
internal world-model. You think -- "know" -- that you cannot control
what _must_, humanly speaking, be controlled, whereas "in reality" --
if you would only have a well-tuned model -- you WOULD be able to
control.

These two types of madness may look very different in the type of
behavior that they generate, although the basic mechanism is pretty
much the same.
