Using the MOL on Mirabilis ICQ

I have started to do this. It is possible to do a random general chat.
I described what I was about as follows:

I am a Psychologist doing research on special kind of conversation which
may result in increased self-awareness. I take the role of the guide.
You take the role of the explorer. I ask no questions which reveals
your personal identity. I give no advise. I would be interested in
your opinion about this method of self-exploration. I can give
references after the conversation if you want to pursue the topic
further on the internet.

I have done this with one person so far. It seemed to work out well. I
plan to do more of this in the future.

Any suggestions for modifying the message I give to people in the
beginning are welcome.

This was done just with a random person who responded to your message?
Wonderful! What a great way to test the applicability of the method! Of
course there's still a benefit in doing this with others who know about the
method, in that it's good to experience it from both ends. Has Tim Carey
signed up for this thing yet?

I predict that if you keep this up you will become the Ann Landers of the
internet. Or, when your random correspondents see how easy it is, the use
of the MOL might spread like a forest fire. Wow. What an idea.

Is it possible to retain a record of a chat, with both sides shown? If so,
I think we might all like to look at some of the exchanges (with permission
from the other person and anonymity preserved by editing if necessary).

The more I think about this the more mind-boggling it looks.

Best,

Bill P.

Yes. In fact I have a record of the one I referred to. The person
wanted to stay in contact and gave me an email address. As you said, I
could delete the identifying information.

Do you think that permission is really necessary in this case after the
editing is done?
