A specimen approach to brain imaging

[from Gary Cziko (2002.10.23 06:15 GMT]

In the October 19 issue of Science News there's a feature article
reporting that looking at fMRI brain images of individuals over time
reveals interesting patterns of change that had not been found before
using the standard approach of averaging images over many subjects.
The work was done by philosopher Dan Lloyd of Trinity College in
Hartford, Conn and was reported in the Aug. 15 issue of _Journal of
Cognitive Neuroscience_.

I find it hard to believe that nobody had done this before!

Just another example of how testing specimens provides a different
perspective than casting nets.
