The following "felt" awkward to me:

What do you think of:

The questions above often lead to defensive excuses, conflict and
resentment. Only accidentally may they lead to a productive discussion
...

This first sentence seems to me to be redundant but the idea is needed to
lead into the paragraph:

It is widely said that conventional psychology is concerned with the
prediction and control of behavior. This encourages managers to think
of people as something to be manipulated. What can we do to get ...

How about:

Conventional psychology's focus on behaviour encourages managers to think
of people as something to be manipulated. What can we do to get ...

I would suggest dropping "try" in this sentence:

perceptions. The last thing we want or will allow is for someone else
to try to control our behavior.

Dag, I don't know what to say about this one. It "feels" out of place to
me. This is indeed the manager's goal I would think, to have employees
that accept the truth of this statement.

We have to accept the general goals of our organization, be willing to
work with agreed standards, and make choices consistent with the
organization's short and long term needs.

I also suggest changing from:

the same time. You are seen as a teacher rather than as a controlling
agent.

to:

the same time. You are seen as a leader and teacher rather than as a
controlling agent.

Well, you did ask
