Complaint (mild)

[From Bruce Gregory 960814.1500 EDT)]

I've noticed that reading Powers and Marken has greatly lowered
my tolerance for low-information content books, which I used to
read regularly, hoping to uncover a few ideas worth having.
This morning I decided that nothing I might read would be as
worthwhile as reading LCS II for a second time. So that is
what I am doing.

I was also distressed to stop by my favorite bookstore in
Harvard Square at noon and to contemplate several walls of
books devoted to education and to psychology. Since the authors
know nothing of how human beings work, it would obviously take
a hell of a lot of reading to extract even a few ideas worth
having. Sigh.

Bruce
