While searching the net for examples of the latest approaches
to psychological research I stumbled upon the following:

This one is so new it's publication date is 1999! I did a
search to see if controlled variables were mentioned in
the table of contents but they weren't. I guess they were
just de-emphasized. Or maybe they are called something else.
Since one of the authors is an expert in control theory and
a particpant on CSGNet perhaps he can help us out.
