[From Rick Marken (2017.08.01.1150)]
I just heard from David Goldstein and he would like to participate in the CSG conference that starts this Friday! I think there may be several others who are n CSGNet who would also like to attend by video teleconference. I did a test run with Lloyd Klinedinst yesterday using a web-based conferencing product called GoToMeeting. It worked pretty well but I’m not sure that’s what we are going to go with. I’m writing this to ask that whatever web-based conferencing is going to be used to allow people to virtually attend the CSG conference be announced on CSGNet as soon as possible. And also let people know how to use it to get to the meeting. I think it would be nice to have as many interested people as possible involved in the meeting, for the sake of the future of CSG (now called International Association for Perceptual Control Theory – IAPCT).Â
Best regards
Rick

Hi Rick,
I am in a bit of a tricky spot here with scheduling the video conference meeting since I may be changing the room location on campus if I can get one more final answer in time about whether or not we can have a free room vs a room that costs $180. As soon as I know that for sure I can schedule the meeting with Bluejeans (the conferencing software that NU uses) and then will have the link which I will post on CSGnet. I am hoping to have this resolved by Thursday evening at the latest.
If anyone is interested in becoming familiarized with Bluejeans and to download Bluejeans onto your computer or other device such as a phone go to:
http://www.it.northwestern.edu/conferencing/bluejeans/
This will prepare you for the meeting in case we do go with this application. Since Lloyd has GoToMeeting we can use that as a back-up or as our first choice depending on the situation.
I have a meeting scheduled at 10:15am (CST) on Friday August 4th to do a trial run with Bluejeans in the free classroom (Swift Hall 210). If there is anyone who would like to participate in that trial please let me know. I will send you the link.
Thank you for your patience. It has been a bit of a marathon in the last few weeks getting the rooms established, catering, sending the flyer for the talk, and getting this video conference set up as well as attempting to get the archives bio for WTP finished and keeping an eye on the agenda and schedule communications. Don’t worry. I am going to be sitting pool-side with some old friends Thursday afternoon to recuperate. Its a good thing I’ve had the last two weeks off from work!
