CSG Listserv question

[From Fred Nickols (2002.11.08.0705)] --

Why is it that I rregularly eceive the messages to which Rick is responding
AFTER I receive Rick's response to them? It's not only puzzling, it's also
confusing and that makes the message traffic and exchanges very difficult
to follow.

I'm having the same problem. At first I thought it must be due to the
time-zone differences -- Rick's replies can bear a time-date stamp that is
earlier than the one on the message he is replying to. Be sure your email
program is set to display messages in the "in" box according to the
time/date received, not time/date sent; that helps some, but does not
completely cure the problem. (In Eudora this is an option found under the
Tools menu.)

I or at least my email server may have been the source of some of the
problems experienced. I've choosen to not use the University's email
because I have doubts about the way computer services are being managed.
Last week for example one of the Economic's Department machines was
confiscated because it was alleged it had been used to illegally down
load a Disney movie. For the time being I'm using the facility included
by the University of Ill champagn to send messages. This basically
works, however, it does not include even some of the very basic features
which are normally a part of an email system.
