CSGLogo

[From Rick Marken (981212.0840)]

I am aware of the fact that the CSG logo on the new Web
page doesn't look good on some browsers. I'm afraid I
only tested it on different Mac platforms with different
browsers; it looks great on the Mac. It looks crappy on
PCs with any browser. The problem seems to be in the way
compression is handled; the actual GIF is larger than the
image on the page. I will soon try making a smaller version
that shows up better on all browsers.

Sorry for any distress this might have caused all you big,
bad PC users;-)

Best

Rick

Rick Marken (981212.0840)--

I am aware of the fact that the CSG logo on the new Web
page doesn't look good on some browsers.

Were you aware of it at the time you decided to publish
to the web? Is this what you would state to the grand jury?

I'm afraid I only tested it on different Mac platforms
with different browsers; it looks great on the Mac.

Did you, or did you not, take an oath to uphold not
only Mac, but PC -- and all other platforms -- when
you took office as webmeister? "...it looks great
on the Mac..?" Are we to accept this testimony as
fact prima facie?

It looks crappy on PCs with any browser.

So, you admit that you were attacking the PCT logo,
especially since the first two letters of "PCT" are
"PC" -- isn't that so? Oh, sure you can say it was
the "CSG" logo. Let's not twist words here... The
obvious fact is that "crappy on PCs" says something
crappy about PCT! Isn't it obvious?!

The problem seems to be in the way compression is
handled; the actual GIF is larger than the image
on the page.

Blaming others is an impeachable offense. All in
favor of removing Dr. Marken from office say, "Oi!"

I will soon try making a smaller version
that shows up better on all browsers.

But can you really undo all the distress you have
caused PC users already by making the problem
"smaller?"

Sorry for any distress this might have caused all
you big, bad PC users;-)

Neither contrition nor smiley faces can erase the
damage done to CSG, and by obvious implication, PCT.
Insofar as no one can fulfill the duties you have
been elected to perform at present, these impeachment
procedings must be dropped. But let us remind you
that improper relations with PCs are known by any
common sense person as impeachable offenses just
the same.

Mr. Hyde

ps: Any reference to "logo" or "Logo" or "CSGLogo"
is strictly limited by the laws governing the
    LOGO language and it's offendees.

[From Rick Marken (981212.1700)]

My wife heard one of our favorites, Tom Lehrer, interviewed on
the radio a few months ago. She said he was asked why he didn't
do political satire anymore. He said that it was no longer possible
to be funnier than real events. Lehrer said that his ability to
do satire ended when Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize.
He apparently realized that this event signalled the begininng
of an era in which it would be be impossible to distnguish satire
from the real thing.

I assume that your wonderful post [Chris Cherpas (981212.1100)]
was satire; but you never know these days. Heck, Henry Hyde and
Co. apparently take themselves completely seriously. But maybe
the impeachment proceedings are really just a great joke. I mean,
how can a guy like Hyde make a statement like

We vote for our honor, which is the only thing we get to take
with us to the grave. -- Henry Hyde

and _not_ think this is satire?

See the problem?

But, assuming that your post _was_ satire, I though it was _great_.

Thanks.
