Envisioning and Reference Signals

[From Fred Nickols (2009.08.03.1142 EDT)]

This has probably been discussed before but I don't recall so I'll ask...

It seems to me that the coaching technique of having people imagine their action preparatory to taking action is a way of establishing reference signals for those actions. Golfers, for example, are told "imagine the swing, feel the swing, take the swing" (and no, I'm not a golfer). Lots of people swear by this coaching technique, which some call "envisioning."

Might PCT be the underlying theoretical basis for its effectiveness?

I think so. PCT also explains why imitation is so innate. As is
Dyslexia. It also explains why when you type really fast, perfectly
good words come out of your fingers, but they are not the words that
you were thinking, and they do not belong in the sentence that you
were writing... PCT explains so, So , SO much!
