We can still use most of the other words, like loop gain. The only word
that has caused trouble is "control," so that is the word I have changed
to spontefaction (I thought you were rejecting "retro" as being too
trendy).
No, it seemed a good time to introduce the term _because_ is was in line
with the current fashion. But now I'm starting to have a hard time keeping
up. First there was retrofaction, then spontefaction; Martin Taylor has
suggested several alternatives to these, and Hans Blom wants to stay with
"control." So now we have a retrofaction faction, a spontefaction faction,
an alternatives-to-these-terms faction, and a control faction. Of course,
this means that my retrofaction tutorial is already out of date. Given the
rapidly evolving nomenclatural environment in which we all must exist, I
have decided to publish _Abbott's Current Dictionary of (Formerly Control)
System Terms_ to help keep up with the demand. This will, of course, be
published _daily_, at least until the mutation rate settles down a bit.
Just send check or money order to this address if you wish to keep up with
the latest changes.
And now a word from our sponsor.
