Festschrift updated

`[From Dag Forssell (2005.08.24.1330 PDT)]

I reported on corrupt html files. Lloyd sent me the original word files for Judd and Marken, and Tim sent me his file. I have opened them in Word 2000, formatted and spell checked (Tim’s for British English), then saved as .html file from Word. Dreamweaver provides an import function combined with immediate clean-up of the messy MS code. I still have not figured out quite how to raise the point size of most texts, but for now, the files have been restored to their original glory, italics and all.

Thanks for doing this Dag.

I just re-read my little paper and, though I know that pride cometh before
the fall, I think it's pretty darn good. I'd appreciate hearing what others
think of it, though.

Best

Rick

[From Dan Miller (2005.08.31)]

Dag, Rick, and fellow travellers:

A couple of years ago I sent Lloyd Klinedinst a manuscript to be included
in the festschrift for Bill Powers. He wrote back thanking me for my
contribution, and yada yada. I haven't heard a thing since that time.
This isn't that unusual for academic publishing, so I didn't think much
about it. Of course, in due time I forgot it, but was reminded of the
festschrift from Rick's post. BTW, Rick, that is a nice piece. However,
as I looked further I noticed that my manuscript was not included. The
paper was entitled, "Late at Night Contemplating Erving Goffman as a
Perception Control Theorist." In it I set down an argument that Bill's
work had an early and lasting impact on Goffman's work. Goffman is
considered to be the most important sociologist in the last fifty years.
[Yes, I know. I can hear the jokes already.] For those with long
memories, I had first read this paper at a conference in Durango in, I
think, 1997.

I would like some closure on this matter. Is the paper to be included or
not? As a minor character in your world (and now, mostly a ghost) I would
understand if you didn't want the manuscript. On the other hand, I think
it is a pretty nice piece, too.

Respectfully,
Dan

Dan,

The Festschrift was and is Lloyd's baby. He is not on CSGnet. His coordinates are

LLOYD KLINEDINST - 10 DOVER LANE - VILLA RIDGE, MO - 63089-2001
HomeVoice: (636) 451-3232
FAX: (636) 451-3232
Lloyd Mobile: (314)-609-5571
email: lloydk@klinedinst.com
website: http://www.klinedinst.com

I have mirrored the Festschrift from its current obscure parking place and in the process cleaned up files that apparently were corrupted during transfers between Windows and Mac.

Why don't you check with Lloyd what happened. If he sends me the original file or you do with his blessing, I can convert to HTML and all.

Best, Dag

Dag and others:

Thanks for the information regarding the festschrift and pointing me
towards Lloyd Klinedinst. I'll post him with my inquiry. If nothing comes
of it, then that is that.
