My OpenOffice program makes nice .doc files, but so far I haven't figured
out how to embed graphics in them instead of linking them in.
Embedding includes the graphic in the text file; linking requires a
separate file for each graphic to be in the same directory as the text
file. I set the preferences for embedding but it didn't work, apparently.
So attached are the two figures for the inverted-pendulum writeup; you can
print them out and staple them to the text. Darn -- I got rid of Microsoft
