For CSGnet Only?

[from Gary Cziko 931019.0120 GMT]

Rick Marken (931018.1300)

put in his message header "HFS trip report for CSG Net only"

I therefore want to make it clear that posting messages to CSGnet is a
public act. While there may be only a handful of active participants on a
given theme giving some dialogues a sense of intimacy and privacy, there
are about 130 subscribers to CSGnet in 18 countries. In addition, all
messages to CSGnet are posted to the Usenet (NetNews) newsgroup
"bit.listserv.csg-l" to which just about anyone with a modem can have
access. And the ease with which one can forward message electronically (I
can even forward e-mail messages to any fax machine with a few mouse
clicks) means that if you REALLY don't want someone to read a post, it
should probably not be sent to CSGnet.

Nonetheless, I would hope that CSGnetters honor Rick's request (and any
similar ones from other CSGnetters) that his message not be forwarded to
those not subscribed to CSGnet. But this is a little bit like putting an
announcement in the newspaper and then asking that only certain people read
it.--Gary
