ANALOG & MIXED SIGNAL APPLICATIONS CONFERENCE 2000
September 11-14, 2000 Hyatt San Jose - Silicon Valley

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Workshop/Paper proposals currently being accepted for review in the
following areas: Communications * Multimedia * Power Management *
Analog EDA * Signal Processing

SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT NOW AT http://WWW.EDTN.COM/AMS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 20, 2000

About the Analog & Mixed Signal Applications Conference:
The Analog & Mixed Signal Applications (AMSAC) Conference is designed
to serve the needs of design and development engineers (and managers)
working with A&MS technology. This technology is the key to success in
many diverse application areas to be covered at the conference:
Communications (including RF and Wireless), Multimedia, Power Management,
Analog EDA, and Signal Processing. AMSAC 2000 will offer a full roster
of in-depth technical workshops designed to provide working engineers with
practical, real-world information. The program will be supplemented with
daily plenary sessions and special events addressing technical issues as
well as industry and business trends.

Conference Chairpeople:
Stephan Ohr, Senior Editor, EETimes, Site Manager, Planet Analog
Nicole Westmoreland, Publisher, Communication Systems Design
Rob Keenan, Editor-in-Chief, Communication Systems Design

Session Types:

AMSAC will offer five tracks of one hour workshops focusing on specific
applications of analog and mixed signal technology. Abstracts are currently
being accepted for review in the following areas:
Communications: DSL, Network Technology, RF & Wireless, and more-
Multimedia: Digital Audio, Display Drivers, High Speed Buses Technology,
and more-
Power Management: Desktop Computing, Portable Devices, Voltage Regulation,
and more-
Analog EDA: Components, Design for Test, System on a Chip, and more-
Signal Processing: Data Conversion, Interfacing to DSPs, Real World Signal
Conditioning, and more-
For information on additional presentation opportunities at AMSAC,
please contact cfahlen@mfi.com.

Selection:

The goal of the AMSAC workshop program is for each attendee to leave with
practical solutions and a better understanding of tools and techniques.
This requires speakers who can impart knowledge in a clear way, emphasizing
process and procedure, rather than theoretical study. AMSAC presenters will
be chosen primarily on the strength of their proposals and their own
qualifications.
The conference is not a forum for sales pitches. Proposals that are
perceived by
show management to promote/sell specific products will not be accepted into
the
program. Sessions on novel and unique applications of products and tools
are good,
but the attendee should not have to buy a certain product to benefit from
the class.
Speakers who deliver a commercialized session will not be invited to return
to the
AMSAC faculty. Submission of an abstract implies a commitment to present a
paper.
Participation in the program is conditional upon adhering to the deadline and
procedures outlined in this notice.

Required Materials and Compensation:
Presenters of accepted workshop proposals are required to submit a 10-15
page white
paper for publication in the proceedings, as well as class notes for
distribution
to attendees. Speaker compensation comprises complimentary admission to
classes
and events (a value in excess of $595). In addition, an honorarium of $250
per class
will be given to speakers from non-sponsoring companies. Payment is
contingent on
meeting the proceedings paper and class notes deadlines and presentation of
the
class. AMSAC does not pay travel, hotel, or other expenses for speakers.

Submitting a Proposal:
All proposals must be submitted via http://www.edtn.com/ams by March 20.
In order to
be considered for inclusion, proposals must contain the following information:
Workshop title - Presenter's name, affiliation, and complete contact
information
- Biography of no more than 80 words (more than one presenter is permitted) -
150 word class abstract - See web site for complete submission guidelines.
